I solved the mystery of the Dickie/Thingyie thing. It turns out that this board had a built in censor device that would change certain words to other words. Being that I'm new to all this, I didn't realize that it was on, but I have now disabled it. NO ONE will be censored on any board that I moderate. That was kinda funny though.... ;D

Thanks a lot for getting this new board up and running FBL!
The Myspace site seems to be listing June gigs in Philadelphia, Hoboken and Boston, which I presume are BC rather than Mother Ocean....although I'm a bit of a stranger to the workings of that site!
Shouldn't that title be "Young Loins in Paradise"?....I'm assuming this is the song about Blue Cheer's early days?

Did nobody think of posting about Huey Burns Kellog when the censor thing was on? I wonder what it would have made out of Woody Woodpecker.

Welcome Other Half and thank you for yet another very insightful post! (Most of us don't really wanna bother with MySpace). The first few tour dates are listed below. Looks like there's at least another 2 that I will be attending. Supposedly, a lot more dates will be booked for the East Coast and some of the other major cities throughout the US will be hit. I guess we'll just have to stay tuned....
06/17/2006 09:00 PM - Northstar Bar , Philadelphia, PA 19019 - $15 BLUE CHEER w/ Birds of Maya & Jeremiah Rifles -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 06/18/2006 09:00 PM - Maxwell's , Hoboken, NJ 07030 - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 06/24/2006 09:00 PM - Middle East , Boston, MA 02101 -
BTW--I love the way the board is shaping up. We had a funny event already, a discussion, and finally some real news. Everyone, please forward the link to anyone from the old board who's email address you have. I have contacted everyone that I personally have corresponded with (except of course, the Electric Wheelchair).

Does that include the famous Mickey Mouse impersonator, the notorious Rob Nauseous?

Hey Folks, Dickie is well and resting in northern California. He now has a copy of the cd, the "people in New York" love it, Dickie as always ,Virgo, perfectionist, wishes for more. Not To say that there is anything wrong with the cd, which has an everything old is new again qualit The tour kicks off in Philladelphia, June 15th, at least three East Coast dates Canada, and ends onthe West Coast ,lasting two months.Whaley is well, but at this point, no one is sure if he is onboard for the tour. The Chet Fest video should also be released next month. Save your money folks, and keep the faith.Good job, Feedbacklord

For the record, Dickie is stoked on the CD. Spoke w/ him last night and he roared it over the phone at me. Even on the phone it sounded like a maelstrom. Here are the confirmed tour dates:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 06/17/2006 09:00 PM - Northstar Bar , Philadelphia, PA 19019 - $15
BLUE CHEER w/ Birds of Maya & Jeremiah Rifles
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 06/18/2006 09:00 PM - Maxwell's , Hoboken, NJ 07030 -
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 06/24/2006 09:00 PM - Middle East , Boston, MA 02101 -
And further- Paul Whaley is confirmed to be in the battering chamber. More dates/info as they are confirmed.

Great news on these last two posts.....that Paul is well (the most important thing) and that he is scheduled to play these upcoming dates....although in fairness, it will also be very interesting to hear what Joe H will sound like on the new album, with fresh material that he can put entirely his own stamp on. I was looking at the Cream website a while back and there was a discussion about Ginger Baker’s contemporaries. PW was mentioned and someone described “Just a Little Bit” as “Arguably the most remarkable piece of rock drumming ever committed to vinyl in terms of sheer power and aggression”. I hadn’t really thought about it in those terms before, but actually the comment is spot on. When you listen PW’s early drumming on tracks like Mind Destruction and Mystic Eyes (and consider that those tracks were recorded well before Hendrix formed the Experience or Cream had released Fresh Cream or played in the USA) it’s pretty breathtaking really....he’s always been “out there”....giving it 200% and inventing a style as he goes along. It’ll be great to hear him again.

I too am looking forward to seeing/hearing Paul play. In response to Other Half's comment about Joe: I am sure he will sound really good on the new album. After seeing the band live with him in the drum seat, I am convinced that he is more than a suitable substitute in Paul's absense (more so than Prarie Prince---sorry Thingyie). Joe is a huge BC fan and has the vibe down perfect. As for the new album, I'll quote him (not verbatim): "The new album is in the vein of OutsideInside. I made sure of that." Dickie & Duck had a different spin on it. I CANNOT WAIT to hear it.

Hmmm...I just saw blurb somewhere that Prairie Prince was out on tour with somebody..(I can't remember who, now) I wonder what this does to the reunion tour...I hope it puts PW squarely back in the chair...for a true BC reunion! All the stuff reported here about the new cd get's me excited about the sound of it. I hope they can get rolling again and showcase the band to a greater audience..all this activity gives me hope!

Can anyone out there imagine what Vincebus Eruptum would have sounded like If Paul's drums were in the mix. I mean you still hear them, far away like , since the bass and guitar parts were picking up bits and pieces. Man, it would have been a totally different record. I hope Paul gets his chance to record again (as well as tour) to show us what we missed.
VE was ahead of its time as it was. But properly mixed drums would have made it off the planet...
Prairie Prince is most likely touring with Paul Kantner/ Jefferson Starship. But there is aways gaps within the tour. so you never know what can or will happen. Probably can post the question to Leigh.

Prarie Prince is on tour with the "New Cars," which doesn't include Ric Ocasic. Stupid, huh? Kinda like a BC tour without Dickie . Not to mention, I think Blondie is actually opening for this bs version of the Cars.....

i have no news..I'm not an insider.....but, I'm here.
somone asked about ivy, i've heard from her cuz she told me where this forum was.
best i can tell, the domain bluecheer.info expired and now appears to be owned by domain squatters...which buy expired domains hoping to make a buck from all the misguided traffic and pop-ups. they also but the domains and never resell them (hence squatting) except for some insane price with a real high markup. It's sad and borderline illegal. whoever was the administrative contact for it should have received an email.
in theory, the old site is still there...if someone could connect the domain back to the server...it could also be converted over to work with another domain...but, it's been a while since i did anything and don't have bs site logins to find out..if i did i'd buy another domain and try to plug it in (well..not quite..but you know what i mean).
hey buzz, glad to see you're here buddy, i thought you might be since you're a man in the know.
anyway..i got a pinball and jukebox sitting here screaming fix me in their own subtle way (pop, spark, boom, smoke).

DD hi, I can't believe I completely spaced contacting you. sorry, but we're almost all here now.. FBL...you're right it was the "new Cars" with Todd Rungren...maybe in the future music will be like McDonalds... where you can just buy a franchise...so when BC get's ready to retire they can just sell the brand and the use of all that it means...Can you see it, in 50 years Dickie#2 will still be playin' the blues with Paul #3 and Duck jr.... I guess it's not so strange a concept...it's like a movie or broadway play, the great ones just keep being remade
