Yesterday had a hour with Dickie on the phone.
Apparently much of Dickie's time is taken up with interviews . Rainman Records has been filtering these interviews to Dickie . He says he is in almost daily contact with Rainman.
Since a lot of the interviews are worldwide he says the main problem is understanding the questions coming at him in a foreign tongue. Good sign that Rainman is doing this kind of promotion. One big problem however is that Rainman is also attempting to book gigs for the band but the amount of money offered was less than satisfactory and would not even pay the bills . Dickie expressed frustration at an ongoing problem of life support . He indicated he knows that his best and only shot at the moment is the new CD and what it brings forth-----
He has a copy for me which is signed so I will be anxious to have his gift .
There is a push to try and lock up some festival gigs in Europe in 2008. Besides Eastern gigs in November they also plan on some gigs on the West Coast -----
He had bad food disease at the summer of love event ----he said he really did not know who was going to accompany him until he arrived at the gig and he just asked musicians that were there to play----he planned on doing Summertime Blues but changed his mind because if he said to a group of unrehearsed musicians to play Summertime Blues some would play it like Eddie Cochran, others like The Who and it would be a big mess so he settled on Hoochie
Coochie Man basic 12 bar blues . He was only able to do one song but that was the last song of the day-----so he said " I played the last song of the Summer of Love"
If any of you out there have connections for festivals or gigs which might support BC in a
better manner please speak up and offer ideas . I am sure they will listen.
Duck and Co. have done a super job thus far and have built their reputation to a lasting and
high rank .
Although establishing soul is something Dickie et. Paul & Duck have done quite well I believe one does not need to be suffering financially---perhaps dues perhaps karma perhaps fate but like the gigs any ideas would be respected . My hope is for them to be able to be a little more comfortable while supplying the world with their music .
Cheers ,
Eric
