I apologize if some get offended, as this is an Off Topic thread, but I thought this was worth noting; We lost a good one www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13814051/

Thanks, Poopy. I was very upset today to hear this news. And it's ok to post it here as most of us do like cool music. For the purests, well I did actually discuss the Piper At The Gates of Dawn album with Whaley the last time I saw BC play, so I guess this actually is tied into the Blue Cheer thing I wonder if Syd ever actually had Blue Cheer acid ???From what a reliable source told me, some of those tabs did find their way to the UK ;D

A tragic figure for sure. God rest his soul. Man, what a talent! His lyrics were totally cool and his guitar playing totally mind blowing. Is it true, that Dave Gilmour taught him to play? Or was it that they just hung out together in Cambridge before the Pink Floyd Sound was to form? Syd Barrett, you will be missed and you have been missed. btw, what did Paul say about Syd?

Blue Cheer tabs did make their way to Britain away back in Nineteen Canteen. I can testify to that. Somebody put one in my cheese omelette. It`s the wierdest cheese omelette that I ever ate.

Did you eat that omelette the same day you actually witnessed Syd in concert?

I can VIVIDLY remember that night. There weren`t many of us in town back then who actually experimented. I had this friend who`s bedroom was the whole attic in this big house, and we used to go up there to smoke. As his parents were away we had the place to ourselves and somebody suggested food and somebody went down to the kitchen and made this big cheese omelette and they gave me the portion with the Tab in it. It would be around `71 or `72, because I was sitting in this armchair and next to me was the record deck and when you left the arm up, it went back to the first track again and it was Hawkwind`s first album, and it played over and over and I just sat there and tripped. One of the other guys, he went up and put his hands against the wall and spread his legs like you see in cop videos, and when we asked him what was happening, he asked if we had seen the guys with machine guns who had come in and searched him. And Hawkwind played on. And there was this huge table lamp with the shade removed, and I just stared at the light totally mesmerised. The second time I took acid, we were out in the country and we had to run for our lives because all the trees were chasing us. Another time we went into a bar and my companion said to me that the bank must be closing. Somebody had the cash box out of the fruit machine emptied on a table and was counting the money. My companion said that he saw sixteen people at tables counting money and assumed that he had come into a bank by mistake. There must have been a few other times, but these ones I do recall. Don`t remember if I ever tripped to Piper at the Gates of Dawn though.

Yeah....I was really saddened to hear bout Syd's death. One of the very few happy memories I had as a kid was the summer that I got to stay a week in Kiwanis Summer Camp and one of the singles on the jukebox was "See Emily Play" that was a current single at the time.....years before I discovered Pink Floyd & getting high! I never knew who did the song but remembered the keyboards so I made the connection. Other songs in the jukebox was "96 Tears" & "Nobody But Me" so I guess it must have been the summer of 1967 or 1968 (which would have made me 8 or 9 years old). The seeds was planted early then....I was doomed to be what I am and I have to blame Syd for it! Here is a You Tube link.... youtube.com/watch?v=k7riHQjGsDA&mode=related&search=Syd%20Barrett%20Pink%20FloydR.I.P. Syd
