Hi My name is Richard. and I am new to this site. In the late 1970's I was on a search for heavy music and followed just about every tip off. I heard of this band called Blue Cheer who (I was promised) were so loud and heavy that at a concert the noise from the stacks killed a dog. In a small country Australian town - that put them up there and over Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes. Well I just had to get their albums. Snail mail worked then adn I got both Vincepus Eruption and Inside Outside...Now - many years later I have 2 beautifully preserved Blue Cheer vinyls. They were played maybe twice 'tops' and have been kept vertical, in sealed plastic bags in low humidity. When they were played they were played by a Grace balanced tone arm - so they have been 'caressed' by a diamond stylus not raped by one.
Anyway - the 2 lbums need a good home. I dont know what they are worth - but hey need to go to caring home where they will be revered. Im happy to sell.
Can someone give me some guidance here on value and demand ? I am also up for answering questions about the albums - incuding who stamped them, what the catalogue numbers are, track listings etc. Can do a jpeg of covers also.
Any way - let me know. Best wishes. Richard. Oh yeah - if this site doesnt like commercial activity going on it - sorry - but given the interest in the cheer here, I thought it worth the risk.

You can`t have been much of a fan if you only played them twice `tops`. Sounds a bit fishy to me.

Funny how you see that as you do . I bought thousands of dollars worth of albums in the mid 70's to mid 80's. Music was all I lived for, and it was loudness and energy really drove the desire. Those I valued most were immediately dubbed across to what was then high quality reel to reel tape - so I always had my own master set of the albums I really cared for. I played the tape. The Blue Cheer albums probably havent been played since the very early 80's. Maybe before that, I didnt keep playing records of them - but I used to keep number of playings of the original early Stooges and other albums. But - Im going to retire soon and move somewhere where I wont have storage and this is a clean up and out of stuff no longer needed. If thats "fishy" - go change your action as youre beautifully paranoid. I thought this was a good thing to do.

So you actually took the time to register as a fan of Blue Cheer and your only purpose for doing it was to sell the original albums. If you were really a Blue Cheer fan that is the last thing you should be wanting to do, irrespective of how much or how little space you might have at home for storing them. Every Blue Cheer fan treasures the band`s albums. Selling them and having them on tape doesn`t mean shit. So how many other band`s message boards did you sign up to in order to rid yourself of their albums, huh? And then when you get rid of them, it`s purpose achieved, and we never hear from you ever again. If you are actually prepared to give them away, as long as the other party pays the postage, Blue Cheer can`t mean as much to you as you make out. And what`s with the Grace balanced tone arm, and `caressed` by a diamond stylus and not raped by one? Sounds like you`re hinting that other people don`t know how to look after their albums.

Why are we making a big deal out of this?

Either because everyone is afraid to contribute to the thread started by Doug Dye or the fact that useless posts are our specialty.

Mr Filcher when are YOU going to have something to say, apart from "useless posts"?

Hey you scleppers...Im just an older guy wanting to look forward after my partner died and I want to rid of some memories. So Im moving because I need to and Im getting rid of some things because they cause pain to have about. You guys are really from a different place. A gesture which was thought to be of value, gets ridiculed and treated with suspicion and attitude. So instead of seeing an opportunity to share Blue Cheer, you want to question motives, pick at peripheral issues and use your primitive form of invection and basically grovel about like cockroaches. Get a freaking llfe, heartless beggars, Ill either chuck the records out or take them down to St Vincent de Paul where they will get sold to an embroidery arts student who makes mobiles out of records. This is not what Cheer were about - this is not what its about. Fuckers

First off, I am sorry to hear about your partner. BUT, what?, you think you're the only one to have suffered a tragedy on this board and you want special treatment for it? Everybody is having a hard time bro! You were treated with suspicion because you have no history here, and you come on all of a sudden, acting as though this is Ebay or something. THEN, you call us "primitive", then you proceed to use to call us names, which is extremely primordial. Last but not least, you called us "heartless beggers", which is an absolute hoot, considering you're the one who came on here begging us to buy your "pristine, un-raped" albums. Sure pal, whatever
