Last week I saw Vanilla Fudge, with all the original members and they are no where near the Cheer. Appice and Bogert still had it but, the other two weren't that great at all. Can you believe they do a Nsync song in their new material?!!? They also do some Zeppelin now.

Awesome Interview, BC Freak!
Capz, Vanilla Fudge wasn't quite the orginal band this time though they were advertised that way. Mark Stein bailed out again as usual. I agree, they ain't got a freakin' thing on BC (Iron Butterfly was kinda cool though). Where did you see this show?

We were at BB King's in NYC. Yea, I forgot about Mark Stein, I could of sworn that was him though. I just checked their site and it says that he was injured and couldn't make some shows, I guess that explains it . Don't worry though, we didn't miss much.... I mean come on, NSync!?!?! When did Iron Butterfly play? I was pissed I missed MC5 during the summer. Can't wait to see the Cheer on Nov 2nd though!!!

MC-5 played over the summer? I didn't know they got back together...now that would be cool to see them open for BC at some shows!

I think MC5 has been together since 2003, I think it would be cool to see Blue Cheer MC5 and The Sooges in the same night!

Don't for a minute think that it's the MC5 that's touring. It's DKT/MC5 with only three of the five original members (Davis, Kramer, Thompson - the other two, singer Robin Tyner and guitarist Fred "Sonic" Smith, are deceased). Use of the name "MC5" has been one of several points of contention between the surviving band members and the families of the deceased. Without Tyner and Smith this is a pale imitation of the MC5, using guest singers and guitarists to help them out. Based on what I've heard and seen of both bands, BC would obliterate them.

How did Kramer perform though? He's one of my favorite guitarists, that would be the only reason I go see them. Oh, and for Ramblin Rose of course Check out this video: youtube.com/watch?v=6Cg0qJ-ieRkI also know Grand Funk Railroad was touring but I'm not sure if Mark Farner is with them.

There are a few Kick Out The Jams clips on the site as well. The only clip of Blue Cheer on this site is that clip of Summertime Blues with Holden in it. Bummer

Capz--The Fudge played with Iron Butterfly & the reformed Nazz (was supposed to be Strawberry Alarm Clock but they cancelled) at the Psychedelic Summit in Reading, PA. This was the night before the BB Kings gig. For some reason, I was under the impression that Iron Butterfly was playing on the King's bill too.
To tie this in to the subject at hand, both Fudge & Butterfly played really well (I especially enjoyed the latter). They were tight & intense, but still I left the gig feeling that both bands were missing that extra UMMPH that you can get at a BC gig. As it was back then, BC is THE HEAVIEST! And to think, all 3 of the bands I saw that night were once the opening act for BC.....

I wish they played, the opening band for Vanilla Fudge was terrible. Do you have Butterfly's tour dates? Know if their playing in New York? I mean, there was a 1 or 2 intense moments at the show but, it was just because of Appice's drumming. He's awesome.

Hey capz cheack out this link www.ironbutterfly.com/tour.php Unfortunetly their last show was at Reading, but check it offten you may find a date for your area. The one thing I want to know is, why are Iron Butterfly and Blue Cheer compared to each other? I know they were both heavy sounding for the era that they were in. But Blue Cheer obliterated Iron Butterfly back then, in the power the produced.

I've read in a few places that the Velvet Underground were compared to Blue Cheer. If I remember correctly, Velvet Underground was to the East coast as Blue Cheer was to the West coast.
