After a forty year wait, I finally got to see the band Sunday night. They were fantastic. Loud and heavy, and worth the wait. They played most of the first album with the exception of Rock Me Baby. Off the second they played Just a Little Bit and Babylon, although Just a Little Bit is also on their recent release. They played three off of it.
They were the heaviest band I've ever seen. Lots of feedback and vibrato bar. Duck is perfect for the band, IMHO. Paul remains my favorite drummer of all time. Nobody knows when and how to hit a cymbal better than Paul. Dickie's bass and vocals are still uniquely Blue Cheer. What a band!
There weren't many people there, however. Maybe, hopefully, because it was Super Bowl Sunday. There wasn't enough audience to generate the applause the band deserved, unfortunately. I hope they're getting bigger audiences elsewhere.
If the band reads this, thanks for still doing what you do. It meant a lot to me that I had an opportunity to attend one of your shows.
