There seems to be no interviews on Paul Whaley out there that I know of. But then again there could be one out there.

Uh. Ok. I have no clue who Frank Marion is, or what this has to do with this thread. P.S Frank Marion, This is a Message Site for Blue Cheer fans to talk about the band. Plus I don't think Randy Holden would take on your "child like" school yard musical brawl, and besides you would have to challenge 2 other guitarists, and beat them to be a true "Guitar God" ;D

No, this is not Frank Marino talking that is an imposter claiming to be Frank – it actually sounds like some other guitarist whom I will not mention on this message board because he does not deserve to be mentioned,…..not only has he attempted and may I say was very unsuccessful at challenging Frank he has also tried to challenge Wayne Kramer (MC-5) and Buck Dharma (Blue Oyster Cult) and a few others I’ve heard I think he’s just hemmin’ and hawin’ because his music career is just about down the toilet so he wants to have a rematch tour to try and revive his musical career Besides BC Freak, Frank doesn’t try to challenge anyone or try to go into that scene and he isn’t into trying to be a “guitar god” – it’s just that this other guitarist thinks he is in the category with someone like Frank in which he is far, far, far from that level of a guitarist – he just wants the rematch tour - that’s all - Randy the “guitar god” is better than this guy ,..and so is Angus Young and so is Duck and so is Leigh and so is Rory (Gallagher) and so is Pat(Travers) and so is Buck Dharma and so is Alvin Lee and so is Rick Derringer etc.etc.etc.

Who ever this guy is, he seems to be a Jimi Hendrix wanabe (from the pics that I saw of him. ) and nothing else. ;D
Well still no luck in finding a Paul Whaley interview. I guess he let Dickie and the others do the talking.

Not quite BC - he has done more justice to Jimi's legacy than just about any guitarist - the problem was that a certain someone from Canada wrote a negative article about him way back in the early days in which it ended up sticking with him throughout his career..and later on in his career during the CBS years when he didn't cowtow to the record companies' demands they would re-print this article throughout all the popular r n' r magazines in which at that time had a negative effect on a fans' perception which was really ridulous when you get down to it ,.....but I think that whole stigma is in the past - he's currently on tour right now and kicking total ass and anyone who goes to see him perform only then will understand how good a guitarist he really is Yes, he was influenced by Jimi hendrix and he was also influenced by Johnny Winter and John Cippolina (from Quicksilver Messenger Service)...what's wrong with that? Stevie Ray Vaughn was influenced by Jimi so why couldn't anyone else be?
I just want to ad we should keep the subject matter to BC,..afterall this is a BC message board, if we're going to discuss this then you should go onto the Mahogany Rush site - let's stick to just BC & BC related on this board...
speaking of that yeah, I would love to hear an interview with Paul Whaley,..maybe a certain someone has an interview maybe even on video perhaps,...man, would love to get a copy of that !,.....Paul is a great guy and a great drummer - very unique player too,...I thought he was interviewed on the last tour, no?

Maybe Paul lets his drum sticks do the talking when on stage, and Let someone else in the band talk to the press. But if someone does have a footage of a Paul Whaley interview, please share it with others, it could have historical value to us Blue Cheer fans, or anyone who likes early heavy metal. But there could be transscrips or audio of an interview of the band when there were on the Steve Allen Show. I beleave I saw that on Scott's website of Leigh Stephens and that he may have that stuff, and when he can get to it, he'll put it on his website. So maybe there could be something with Paul on it. But don't hold me on that one, because I'm not sure on this one.

There was an interview done with Dickie and Paul in England in 1983. It`s nearly two hours long, and Dickie does all the talking. Paul only chimes in with the odd remark. Hardly what could be termed an interview. I know that Paul is a very private person. You can`t contact him because he doesn`t want to speak to anyone. I had his e-mail address and didn`t try to contact him as I respect that privacy. I went to Regensburg in 2004 and stayed with Didi Saller for a week. Despite the fact that Didi played with Paul in BC for the best part of two years and despite the fact that after that tour was finished Paul and Didi went into business together, Didi still has absolutely no idea where about in the city Paul lives. Paul enjoys his anonymity. I would, therefore, doubt very much if there were any interviews with Paul from any time or place. Paul is a bit of a mystery. Dickie has used a number of drummers throughout the history of BC. Paul has always been first choice but only when it suits Paul to be there. What he does when others have taken his place is Paul`s business and nobody else`s. He likes to keep it that way. Paul prefers that somebody else does the talking when he is around. You won`t find him because he doesn`t want to be found. I have spoken to Paul. He is a person of few words and prefers to have others do the talking for him.
