Pittsburgh has a bunch of lost venues, although none as well known as a lot of other cities have. The Syria Mosque is now a Holiday Inn parking lot, the Stanley Theatre was hi-jacked by the society folks and now only hosts musicals, and the Zodiac (aka White Elephant), which is probably where BC played the only time they came here (with RH), is a vacant lot. Most of the great clubs from the last 30 years are likewise history.

Just acquired and framed a handbill perfect condition ---Blue Cheer , MC5, Stooges-Grande Ballroom---significant besides great show is that gig was the highest gross of any gig then or since -----$8,000 mostly because of huge crowd and % of Door.
Cheers , Eric

Most of those mid size venues ---fillmore , avalon, kinetic playground , grande ballroom fillmore east had great acoustics as the rooms were for the most part not square, had a balcony or second floor and had lots of wood to make for goodacoustics --- apparently in the big band era 1920's etc when these places were all the rage for dancing and drinking battery acid I do believe they were built for that era. Portland had one as well as Seattle-------------------- Sadly , this mid size venue is mostly gone forcing bands into bars or if lucky enough into arena size gigs.
