Actually, there was no band called Population 2. The album itself was billed as simply "Randy Holden" without the guitar dog subtitle. The band that recorded it was called LUCIFER. This must have been before Randy developed his distaste for Black Sabbath (One of the ULTIMATE bands to walk this black planet we call...Earth).
Ready for the lame joke now.....

Festooned, give it a rest already Great topic though! I thought Silver Metre had a lot of potential, what with Leigh and Mick Waller in the same group, but alas, it was not to be. Personally I would have liked to see what Leigh would have done had he pursued a direction more in the vein of "Red Weather" than "A Cast Of Thousands". I think that the line-up for the first album by Pilot looks great on paper (I mean, 2 ex-guitar players from Blue Cheer!), but IMHO did not deliver. It had a few good songs, but the production and even delivery left much to be desired. I still think one of the best Blue Cheer related offerings is Dickie's sole studio solo album "Child Of The Darkness". Because Dickie does not play bass on it ( ), it cannot be construed as "Dickie and other musicians replacing Blue Cheer". It is totally a solo album, not an album masquerading to be a Blue Cheer album. But, for what it's worth, I think the album captures the vibe from the first 2 Blue Cheer albums, while not sounding like either of them, in addition to some great songs. I thought the album by Kak was terrific. It's really not (Musically speaking) BC related, but because Gary Yoder played on it, it is BC related because of that. Nonetheless, for me anyway, it stands on it's own as a great album whoever it's by! Although some of the stuff Randy Holden was on before he JOINED (Not started) Blue Cheer, it is mildly interesting at best. Truth be told, the majority of interest in that material is due to Randy's brief sting in BC, and that's something that he doesn't seem to want to accept. With the exceptions of the "Population 2" and first "Guitar God" albums, I wouldn't really consider anything Randy did pre-BC really BC related. No doubt there are more BC related bands, so let's hear your opinions about 'em! Mr. Poopy Pants III

Roadburn News ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
"For the past year, we have been working like hell to accomplish the festival, and we're kinda speechless right now... The entire festival was overwhelwing, and we need a little while to recover before reving up the Roadburn website. Personally, I need a little while to digest the experience...
Talk about the on demand webcasts. We have been recording the entire festival for Vpro 3voor12, and in the next few weeks, these recordings will be mixed and mastered. We'll keep you posted about when the webcasts will be up and running. Walter on behalf of the Roadburn Festival"
