Since the new website has been up for ten full days, I thought I'd report the early statistics. I used Google tracking, and Eric supplied onsite stats.
After only ten days, and with seven days remaining in this month, the site already has more hits for October than for any month this year, 130888, contrasted with 107648 for September. Over 3 GB of bandwidth has been used (people listening to the audio, or looking at the slideshow), easily the highest of the year.
The new site has now risen above the MySpace site in Google, and Google has registered the search optimization added to the site. Google stats (which measure the hit counts lower, not including repeat visits, Googlebots, etc) by country (starting on Oct. 14th, the first full day) are:
US: 1060
Britain: 49
Germany: 110
France: 33
Canada: 48
Japan: 20
This makes sense because BC is on tour in the states right now.
There are a few cool stats here; for example, Michigan, Texas, Florida and Pennsylvania were states where over 80% of the site visitors had NEVER VISITED THE SITE BEFORE.
This isn't about tooting my own horn, I wanted to share this, and ask anyone who knows any other musically oriented sites to contact those sites and recommend that they link to BC's site. Rock music blogs, stoner rock websites, other message boards, it doesn't matter. This will drive more viewers to the site, which will inturn improve the Google ranking, and ultimately give BC more visiblity at a time when they are touring a lot of these states.
My apologies to some here for lagging behind in suggestions, I am swamped with my paying work right now. I will catch up. In addition, I am cleaning up some problems on the old site for Duck, but I am behind on that also. Sorry Duck, I PROMISE I'll get to it ASAP.
Thanks to Eric for bringing this to my attention.
