Sugarmegs just added the 9:30 Club (Washington DC) show from 5/17/84 to its collection of live recordings available for streaming or downloading (.wma format). It sounds better than the one I've had for years, either a lower generation or possibly a different recording altogether. It's not the greatest quality, but very listenable. tela.sugarmegs.org/darkstar/

Thanks for the heads-up, Mike. I was gonna put downloading down for awhile but I guess I'll make an exception in this case.
All I can say for this is...I LOVE PUSSY!!!!!

YE GODS!
Yes I was there FBL, thanks for recalling my mention of this.
I have a few recolections besides the fact that they were great:
I was suprised how many folks were there and brought albums to be signed...some of them so old you could see the outline of the LP through the cover.
The did Summer/Blues and then Focus, and closed with Dr.. Don't remember much other than that.
Dickie rasied his fist and smiled when they walked out.
My recolection is that they did not play on the stage but setup on the dance floor.
I wore a "THE VENTURES " jersy.
I did not know Tony's name at the time but he was very young, skinny, long haired and played his ass off. At times he seemed a bit nervous but also thrilled to be there.
I bought a cassete that night of a previous gig...wish I knew where it was now.
Needless to say I will download it soon.

This was the original 9:30 Club. The stage there was incredibly small, if you can call it a stage. It was more like a few wooden boxes turned sideways (only one player could stand on one). I can see why BC would have to set up in the pit with all the equipment they had....
