[]there is no difference between punk and metal. It's all "loud, rebellious music", and I like it all!
Yes, but metal was never supposed to become on a mainstream level and IMHO that is why most of the metal bands that became popular lost their edge from when they originally started,…bands like Metallica for a great example

Metallica are the ultimate disappointment of all heavy metal. Here were a bunch of guys who, while being a major influence on shaping Speed Metal, could actually play with taste and had enough attitude to make it to where they were selling out stadiums without a single hit record or video. And all the people who packed those stadiums were die-hard maniacs.
Yet, when "And Justice" didn't win the Heavy Metal Album Of The Year award (which by rights it should've, but what person with a brain and taste in music takes these things seriously?), the band lost sight of what they were about, cut their hair, went commercial, sued the fans who downloaded their music, and put out a whiney. self-indulgent documentary about their "feelings." Basically, they pissed in the mouths of all the people who supported them and got them to where they were (Cliff Burton wouldn't have stood for any of this!). And now, on the latest record they claim to be back to their roots? I think they pussified themselves a bit too much to be able to go back and their original fans ain't buying it!
Funny thing, they were once label-mates with Blue Cheer. And that label, Megaforce, did what it could to commercialize the band we all love. Yet, with all the spandex, animal skinned BC Rich axes, hairspray, Van Halenesque guitar slos and studio overproduction, it all still came out total Blue Cheer. This band can not suck even if they tried simply because they are true to themselves and the music...the real deal!

i'm not trying to re-ignite no fire !!
punk and metal do go hand in hand in some cases: 'the plasmatics' is a great example, 'wendy o' was 100% punk in every aspect, but was 100% metal to the bone.
the main reason that they collide?
to me, a punk rokkr relys on his anger to inspire everything from the song's to the stage to the backstage to the alley out back the club/venue. they have no care as to how they are perceived by anyone, sloppy is almost a statement in their realm of music. and a metal rokkr: uses his anger to influence his musical ability and even though he does care about what the songs sound like and how they come across to the audence, their attitude is more precsion, a missed note is hated by a tru metal rokkr, and the whole show can be flawless, but the only thing a tru metal rokkr would think of is man i fukked up that last lead note.....damnit !!!
a punker would say: hahahahaha i fukked up every last note and lost my way, half way through every song, but so what. were (insert punk rokk band name here) !!! and were gods, that is how the original punkers thought. today a band such as greenday (i have nothing for em) they do care, so punk has evolved in some case's, mainly the usa punkers. but nothing has changed for the tru metal rokkr, he is still searching for the lost chord all nght long, till he finds it !!!
'punk rokk dont care and tru metal does !!
maybe the hate comes from that aspect alone!!!

feedbacklourde, sorry i didnt see your metallica post till i posted my reply.
i'm one of those who supported them from the go. cliff led them from l.a. to san fran and set the tone that they followed, he had a diredtion that was no mercy to the otherside and at that time the otherside was hair/ballards and sissy looking pantyhose wearing crue's. once he died they lost their driving force he kikked em into overdrive more than he is given credit for. i didnt like justice, it just didnt appeal to me not because of cliff being gone, but because the songs didnt hook me like most other fans, but i think the legions of street rokkrz felt like me. where are the balls ! it's got everything metallica, but no balls ! (maybe thats why j. tull beat em out for the grammy?) and your right the nu one sukkz. they returned to what? not their roots, just more of the same ole last 20 years of sukking but i have read they still kill it live but i wouldnt know, i seen em in 85, masters tour, top of the rokk !!! robert trujuillio killed in suicidal tendencies, but that slap bass isnt tru-metallica styled metal, and neither was j. nustead's bass playing. just my thoughts on those wasted, washed up multi-millionaires of false metal.

rokkz...the constant exclamation points, run-on sentences, saying things such as " death to false metal", "this sucks", all give the impression that you're some over-enthustiatic 8th grader experiencing metal music for the first time. Your posts are almost as worthless as Gypsyball's....almost.

rokkz ... in your definition of tru metal rocker, Paul Whaley came to mind. He was always like that. After a great show, he would always be saying, he didn't play well and misssed some things. He probably was comparing himself always to the highest standard, yet all in all, it was still great to see him and hear him play.

fuc* the word/concept of punk and metal!!!!I was around in the 60's, 70's, 80's and more....They were words only, and not used by anyone I know, including the bands or anyone involved...Only used by media and people who were lame/slow/ignorant....R&R has always been the same concept...just different players....CAN YOU PASS THE ACID TEST?....Paul, Leigh, and Dickie did, and let's not forget Eric A....I know me and my friends did with no regrets.....
