I know this is an old question but, is there an accurate translation for "Vincebus Eruptum" and what's the story on why and who named the first LP??

Don't know, but it was the heaviest sounding thing when it came out.

When asked what it meant on the Steve Allen Show, Dickie said that it translated as`control of chaos` or `controlled chaos`.

Saddly the band lost control of the chaos, thanks to the drugs they abused back then. But now they are in control of chaos again.

hmmm...not exactly what I was looking for here... I want an accurate translation... are these even latin words or just made up "sounds like latin etc...close enough for rock and roll" there's got to be someone on here who might know...I have been trying to translate the term but the translation sites say there is no translation...

Well...after just looking at an on-line translation engine, it seems that these are real latin words. I got multiple meanings for each but the combo that made the most sense equaled "Conquering Attack" or "Conquering Explosion." Makes sense to me....

'Vincebus Eruptum' translations aside - what about last nights NYC gig?
Does anybody have something to report about 'Vincebus Knitting Factory' ?

I was at the show last night and they totally rocked,...it was a little looser than some of their other shows that I saw in June of this year but they still kicked ass...and it was cool seeing Paul Whaley doing a Jim Morrison on stage last night..I won't go any further than that but those who were there last night know what I'm talking about they are a great bunch of guys and really wish them well on the rest of the tour....will see them in Philly next week

Thanks for the report, Mr Maltese!
Let's hope Paul doesn't end-up in the slammer like Morrison before Philly.
I'll be there next week, as well.

I definitaly agree with Maltese, but like he said it was still a great show. The setlist is the exact setlist shown on the bluecheer myspace site. And yes, I know what your talking about when it comes to Paul's show Any idea why he did that? The crowd was very wild, and some one threw two beer cans near Paul, was that the reason he did that? I was right up on the stage, when those jerkoff's were trying to mosh. Did you see the guy with the dreads? He was going to fuck them up. Also someone jumped of the stage and messed up Duck's pedal. Had a great time though.

So how loud was it there? Were they loud as they were in 1968?

I had a great time. It was such a fun time even though it was wild. I think that was part of the chaos. The guys started laughing when the stage diving was happening. Dickie just told the crowd that it was all right as long as noone fucked up the guitar stuff. Most everyone was having a great time. Music was loud. I don't know if it was as loud as 68' I wasn't there...but it was loud and good.
