I am truly heartbroken to have to announce this. Dickie Peterson, the founding member of Blue Cheer, has passed away this morning at 5 AM in Germany.
This is a very sad time for all. He was an inspiration and a true rock and roller. He was an icon and a special person.
I love you my friend.

My deepest sympathy to Dickie's family, Blue Cheer members, friends and admirers - there was and is no one like him, and we must make sure BC music is Alive. Dickie and BC worked so hard for so long, and the evolution of what they've done is a testimony to Dickie and his band/1%. He was/is a vibrant soul - a heartfelt, caring and special person who will live on in music history as well as in our hearts. He would want to still be a part of us all, and his beautiful spirit is soaring toward an eternal music.
Thank you too, Eric, for sharing so many stories and helping us understand this complex band and its evolving story. My condolences to Duck, Paul, you, and all the Blue Cheer members and the rest of us who enjoyed them so much. Words cannot express my admiration for Blue Cheer adequately - I only know Dickie has found peace and joy even if it is hard for us to imagine.
Peace and love to you, Dickie - you will always live on and have given us so much to share with you!! Hugs, Terry Lee Lewis

Terrible news... thank you, Dickie, for keeping the dream alive and for over 40 years of sweet, heavy rock n' roll. They don't make 'em like you anymore. My deepest condolences to his family, BC, and the people that loved him all over the world.

Rest in peace, Brother. Thank you for all your music over the years, especially the last few tours here on the East Coast. Dickie was the most honest, upfront guy around and one hell of a bass player. A true legend who will live on forever. Condolences to all of the Blue Cheer community.

This is truly heartbreaking news. I too send my condolences to Dickie's family and the band and to all the 1% whom I shared the joy of his music with. Dickie was the last of a classic breed. A really genuine type of guy, amazing musician, and a fun person to be with.
On behalf of us all, I would also like to thank the band for all the new music and shows they've given us over the last few years. For a lot of us, to finally get to see our favorite band and the get to know them on a personal basis was a dream-come true. I know that the rewards of going out on the road weren't always there but I (and many others) do appreciate that the music always came first and that the guys always gave us more energy than we bargained for. This made it the real deal and was the reason why it was so great!
We'll miss you Dickie. Ride on, Bro!

I am truly devastated over the horrible news of Dickie's passing there is no doubt a big part of Rock N' Roll history has left us but Dickie's spirit will always live on
He will be forever in our hearts and minds for the rest of our lives here on mother earth Dickie has passed to the other side of the Rainbow but has left an amazing legacy behind - he is the guy IMHOP who started hard rock - along with Hendrix and Cream Blue Cheer has taken it's own entity and if it weren't for Blue Cheer there would be no Motorhead,no AC/DC,no Black Sabbath and many other names that could be mentioned on this list,.....Dickie you will always be the man I love you and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you've given to all of us I will never forget the good times we had hanging out backstage and I will especially always remember The Broken Spoke Saloon in Laconia, NH 2005 where both Feedback Lourde and myself became best of friends since that time
My deepest condolences go out to the Peterson family, to Paul and Duck and to all who knew him and who were close to him
God Bless your soul Dickie and may you have eternal peace and happniess with all whom have departed from earth,
Maltese

It goes without saying that I am deeply saddened to hear the news. Although he/BC never got the credit he/they were due, we know the score. IMy condolences go out to his family, as they will miss him the most. As for us fans, I am at a loss for words. This is the true end to Blue Cheer. At the very least, he made a good last album, re-united with Leigh and toured the U.S. again with Paul and for the first time(s) Duck in the last few years. I was honored to meet the man, and saw no rock star BS. American music has lost a true soul, pioneer, class musician and great person today :-(

Feedbacklourde phoned me here in Scotland and told me the sad news. As soon as I heard his voice when I picked up the phone, I knew exactly what he was going to tell me. After I put the phone down, I went to the window and stared into space and I felt a lump in my throat and just the beginning of tears. I went through to where I knew the photo was of me with my arm around Dickie, taken in 2003, and I felt so very sad. It brings an end to an era for me. I never in my life ever thought I would ever be in the company of Dickie (and Paul). It was always my ambition to see him play live with Blue Cheer. I realised that ambition. What came after the show was just the icing on the cake. I will treasure that moment for as long as I live.
