This story is posted solely for amusement purposes only. Thanks Eric for bringing this to our attention: Police in Huntington, West Virginia arrested former Blue Cheer guitarist Lee Stephens for beating a man on the street with his guitar. He also hit two others who were asking him to play anywhere but near their park bench where they were trying to sleep the previous night away. Huntington police spokesman Larry Wainwright told 'The Ugly Truth' that Stephens, known as "Wounded Hand Lee," was performing Sunday when a 64-year-old man knocked his music. Wainwright says the two argued and police were called when Stephens began hitting his critic with his guitar. Stephens then tried to hit the police with his guitar. "The winos were all waking up by that time and were trying to destroy the guitar", stated Wainwright. "So we took Lee in to get him away from them. I'm afraid the guitar was on fire when we left." The street people were throwing a party a little later singing "Ding, Dong The Pitch Is Dead" and hugging each other. Apparently the guitarist had few friends. Or, maybe it was his guitar that they were singing about. "We let him loose as soon as we could get his stuff and move him to another park where he was playing harmonica for tips", stated Joe Langley, another officer. "I don't blame those people. You ever hear him on that "Summertime Blues" song? I'd rather hear two cats mating!" www.thespoof.com/news/spoof.cfm?headline=s4i82728

This thing would never, ever happen to Randy Holden! He is a law-abiding , outstanding citizen in good stature in society who would never delve into the simple and crude world of crimininology. Guess it only happens to former members of Blue Cheer who spent their years in Randy`s old band persuing drugs and the lifestyle that goes with it, with the end result of all of them being dirt poor and making horrible business decisions.

I agree it's really old, but it ain't me posting as Festooned, Ralph. I think you oughta know that by now. You gotta stop talking to Eliot Brown! Just becuase I don't ban this person (or anyone else who doesn't worship Holden unconditionally ) doesn't mean that I condone this. I really expected better from you....

Piglips and Rowena, it's a gag. I guess you did you not see the word "spoof" in the link or go to the Web site, which is called The Spoof. After the "Lee Stephens" story is a blurb called More Fake News Stories. *** General comment - I thought this story and couple of others I read on the site were tasteless and about as funny as a crutch.

Here's another interesting newsclip. Hopefully this one won't lead to any hair pulling!
FILTER Magazine's first annual Culture Collide Music Festival is merely two weeks away, and already we're imagining what we'll be eating. Although music festivals are frequently the territory of three-hour waits for soggy cheesesteaks and suspect vegan stews dished up by blazed parking lot dudes, this one figures to be a change of pace.
According to the folks at FILTER, the schedule of shows slated to go down at venues large and small around the city will be graced by the intermittent presence of a variety of food trucks, including, among numerous others, Don Chow Tacos, Lake Street Creamery, Ahn-Joo, Dim Sum Truck, and India Jones. While it'd be appropriate to sustain a Dickie Peterson bass bludgeoning while savoring Grill 'Em All's hesher-friendly "Blue Cheer", a burger topped with cranberry gastrique and Maytag blue cheese spread, or hear a spot of Styx while sampling Lomo Arigato's Japanese-Peruvian fusion cuisine, most of the music-food pairings concert-goers will enjoy will be up to the fickle hands of happenstance.
Monotonix, Cass McCombs, Klaxons, The Besnard Lakes, Black Lips, and El Guincho are among the headliners. Chances are, many vendors will congregate around the venues they're playing. Still, you might strike paydirt diddling your iPhone as you stumble out of Taix after a set of golden, groovy, country-inflected rock by Sacramento's Two Sheds, and find, around the corner, Takoyaki Tanota's drippy octopus fritters--right where Twitter told you they'd be.
FILTER Magazine's Culture Collide Festival: October 7-10, 2010. See the site for a more exhaustive list of venues, bands, trucks, and vendors. $20 gets you a wristband good for admittance (capacity-permitting, of course) to any and all shows.
