'hail all you tru metal rokkr'z'
okay i grew up with older hippy brothers, who cranked (no pun intended) 'blue cheer summertime blues' every morning before school and every nght before bed so i am a proud product of !!!
my question is: while researching the longest live concert...the name blue cheer never appeared. now i know 100% that bakk in the day that blue cheer played an improvised concert, said to have lasted over 8 hours in san francisco?/oakland/bay area? is there a more definitive time stamp for this outdoor gig?
cause some band called phish claim's the record.... and i have serious doubt's, that they could hold the intensity that blue cheer would have held and maintained back in the day !!!

very possible for sure as everthing was way more relaxed....probably were about 5 breaks at least along with some very good herb and other assorted party favors or maybe a pipe dream.....maybe eric A could assist......screw phish, not in the same league......if this happened there must be some tapes or footage as 8 hours is a marathon for sure and would have been noted even back in the day.....what does bakk mean? ?is that "back" in slav?

no i'm not a slavic. i just like to slap my own style, to the mass's it's type'o's, to me, it's my spray painted idenity.
oh i'm sure that a old school fan would know of this gig.... what i read was more like they were all on amphitimiens*? i read this like 30 years ago maybe creem or something like that late 70's but weed, yeah plenty of that to !!!

thanks........
am i allowed to converse about other bands whose roots can be traced back to the original movement, or is it limited to blue cheer only ? i post a lotta so-called tru metal sites but i run into the under 30's, and they think korn/limp bisquick?...is metal and i'm tired of screaming 'that's not metal'

Welcome to the board, Rokkz.
To answer your question about posting of other bands, this board is a little more lax about it than most. We welcome anything that is related to BC be it side projects, bands they played with, or similiar bands as well as it is within reason" (ie, no spamming, no mutiple threads dedicated to things totally off topic, and no posts about Chris Cornell or Randy Holden LOL!).
As for your question of BC doing an 8 hour gig, who knows? Perhaps Uncle Eric as he is the only one who was there who still has enough memory cells left. My feeling is that it's doubtful as an hour of BC live is enough to totally drain all your energy, let alone 8!
And SABBATH IS TO HEAVY METAL!!!!! They are the ones who ultimately defined it (before it lost it's soul, earthiness and got cheezy)and have since been the protocol.

feedbacklourde,
i will respect your board and your members, i'm old school schooled so a cultureized i am...
you doubt my claim?..
if i didnt read it then i wouldnt know it.. i don't wanna lay claim to knowledge that a tru blu fan should or would kno, but be it as it is, it is a fact: that you or these board members cannot dispute, just because it's doubted. i came here to reinforce my knowledge. i been screaming this trip for many many years. and now i started looking it up and ran into a brick wall.... so i come here to the masters of the trip !!! i believe it happened and all i am looking for is conformation, 'i don't know rokkz' is more cool to me than 'hey rokkz i doubt your claim' sir, it is not my claim, it is what i read, and i read it before a internet was around (to the public at least)
regarding sabbath, sabbath started out as a blues band then changed. in everything i have read and heard and learned blue cheer did not start out as a blues band they were what they are then and now 'pioneers' aka trendsetters as i said already, if i am wrong then correct me as 'i am a student' i want info not an opinion.....hell if that was the case the kinks invented the metal riff, in my opinion, but thats not tru is it?
i know it's not important in life, but i am a real deal rokkr and when i talk metal, i wanna know what the fukk i am talking about and not be corrected. you know what i am saying, i'm sure.
if any rokk'rz are from this era, who as i'm told have enough membrains left, please school me with facts. other wise i will booast this fact with or without merit from my peers. as i read it in a time before a bunch of so called writers started actng like they know something off the cuff instead of researching it to be tru-dom or b-s
in respect

To me Black Sabbath picked up where Blue Cheer left off after Holden left the band. Unlike the rest of Sabbath’s, their 1st album has a bluesy sound to it. Also they did 2 cover on the 1st album as well. Crow’s “Evil Woman” (on the UK version) and Ansley Dunbars’ “Warning”

this is my thinking to: sabbath either heard the blue cheer music and changed or someone clued them into the scene happening (san fran) and they went to imitate and devised a whole new dark atmosphere, name, look and yes music....i have seen a old earth video of them doing "blue suede shoes' you dont go from that to the most demonic name and image and music without help.....ozzy/iommi/butler/ward were good but not that good..just smart !
i stand with blue cheer being originators and the rest copied it
are there even people who have been interviewed that heard or knew the band before they got signed?
now that would be the gig. actual eyes on metal's inception........ i know they exsist, to bad i'm not a fukkin reporter, cause i would delve right into it....
