Travelling by coach, playing, drinking, partying, overdosing on herbal substances etc., took its toll on everybody but especially on Paul who wasn`t able to take part on the second tour which pretty much followed close after the first. Moving on to another venue, another city, it got so they couldn`t remember where they were, the gear was set up so they just went out and played. Going on stage in Hamburg, Dickie called out to the audience `Hello Munich!`They shared the first tour with Leslie West and Mountain. Everybody was on the same tour coach travelling together. Leslie West rolled and smoked one joint after the other and somehow managed to set fire to the bus which was then completely destroyed in the ensuing blaze, according to official souces.

According to what Dickie told me, Leslie West almost lost his life that tour. For some unexplained reason, he had the gall to hit Dickie in the back of the head as he was walking down a staircase. He was about ready to kick Leslie's fat ass until some voice of reason said "C'mon, you don't wanna be known as the guy who killed Leslie West." Somehow that diffused the situation. After the last few times seeing Mountain, my humble opinion is that it wouldn't have been too great a loss.
