A home video of Randy playing "Sunken Ships" from the Raptor album: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Whi-D2XG5HcHe also has a new album out: Randy does a number of covers on this outing along with some new songs. The recording is very "live". It will leave you with the feeling, that you just heard how he would have sounded live back in the heydaze. Some early reviews on "Psychedelic Blue": www.randyholden.com/Reviews.html

I believe, perhaps foolishly, that a great opportunity was lost when Randy left BC in the middle of NEW!. If he had not I think their entire history might have been different. People would might speak of BC with same respect that Led Zeppelin, Cream, Sabbath, to mention the obvious, are refereed to now.
I seem to recall reading (I think on this board) that sometime in the 70's, Dickie went to Hawaii and tracked Randy down to suggest giving it another go. Randy said no of course but again, what might have been.
If this is true how I would like to have been a fly on the wall.

Hey Yage! It's cool to see a post from one of the old crew from the old board. I think the last time I spoke with you was at the Krug's gig almost 10 years ago (time flies like mescaline!). I don't think Dickie went all the way to Hawaii but I think I remember Randy telling me (or maybe Feathered Fish or Riffraff?) that Dickie called him in '75 about reforming and his response was less than civil and he felt horrible later as Dickie had an almost fatal experience soon after. I never did get around to asking Dickie about this (didn't think he'd wanna go there, whatever really did happen). Being that this comment is unsubstantiated, everyone please take it with a grain of salt. I'm not looking to start any shit-storms (speaking of, what ever happened to Festooned Piglips? LOL!)

I doubt Dickie would have went to Hawaii to track Randy down. Maybe Randy Pratt would have but not Dickie. When Guitar God was being recorded, Randy called Dickie numerous times, but he didn't return the calls. I think Dickie finally got back to Randy, but the sessions were too far along. Also Dickie said something to the effect that his current efforts were being devoted to Mother Ocean. Contrary to common belief, Randy and Dickie did communicate. Randy also tried to help Dickie collect his "mechanicals" on the songs Dickie wrote. But Dickie by his own admission was hopeless in these business matters.
Yeah if the band had stayed together, it would have been a different story. However, the toll drugs had taken on Paul and Dickie prevented it and was the main cause of Randy leaving. Imagine if Population II was with Paul instead of Chris Lockheed.
Still in all this, Randy has been given a bad rap. He deserves our support.
He has recently purchased a new mixer/console, since his old one is no longer supported. And is currently working on new songs.

Without going down this road for the billionth time, Riffraff, you gotta remember that it takes two to tango and no one, including Randy, was an angel in all this (1969, 1993, and the 20th century). If we boil it all down, it amounts to a handful of great musicians that simply weren't compatible work-wise & personality-wise and didn't share the same concept of what BC is all about. 'Nuff said!
