Well, that Holland gig should be a big deal. Any fans from across the pond going to that one? It seems that the European fans have been left out a bit with the last tour and the fact that the American tour was quite extensive compared to the gigs they played in Europe maybe 3 years ago. I would hope the new management would promote that one!?!?
I remember when the band start playing in Europe, how we felt left out over here. Man, the band returned the favor many times over. I hope the British, German , French and all other fans turn out to see how Dickie , Paul and Duck have developed.
Maybe after this the band can discover new fans in South America or Russia. (More of an expense or risk, but if well planned or timed ...you never know.

So then why aren't the Stooges opening for Blue Cheer? Since they are touring at the same time, it would make sense, no?

So then why aren't the Stooges opening for Blue Cheer? Since they are touring at the same time, it would make sense, no? Iggy and the Stooges... Open for Blue Cheer!! Reality check time: The Stooges are playing 2000 + seat venues as the headliner with sponsors like Miller Lite and ticket prices at around $40.00 supporting a new CD on a major label (even if it does suck). Blue Cheer is on a triple bill at Mac's Bar or any other joint that hangs a beer sign in the window for $10 -$15 supporting a CD that God knows who will issue and when (even though it will be better than 90% of the shit out there). But as a BC fan, I'm happy as hell to see these guys play anywhere, anytime, with anybody!!

I agree with Babylon on this one, Blue Cheer would be the opening act for the Stooges (if they were to tour with them). Of course Blue Cheer would kick the Stooges asses. Talk about roll reversals in the late 60's the Stooges would have opend for Blue Cheer, now it would be the the other way around. Kind of sad if ask me.

C'mon guys, save the "Blue-Cheer-Can-Kick-The-Stooges-Asses" conversation where it belongs; In high schools. Those 2 bands are different in more ways than they are the same. Both bands sprung from totally different backgrounds, so comparisons are worthless. While I am a much, much bigger fan of Blue Cheer than The Stooges, admittedly Blue Cheer still had traces of that dreaded "Hippy" sound on their debut, although it's not as obvious as say, The Grateful Dead, but it's there. They even regressed a bit on the third album. The Stooges absolutely hated hippies (Smart guys!), and their debut had anything BUT hippy overtones, and that was a good thing. And, like Blue Cheer, they had some line-up changes by their third album, but did not let up the energy one bit, whereas Cheer totally changed their sound, even going to the "San Francisco Sound" on side 1. This is not to say one band is better than the other. I for one, eagerly await the new Blue Cheer album far more than I did the new Stooges album, and would much rather see Cheer live then The Stooges. My point is, comparing Blue Cheer to The Stooges is like comparing Apples to Oranges. I'm just glad BOTH bands are out there playing live, reminding me that Rock And Roll is alive and well. I mean, you think folks are gonna talk about Fall Out Boy 20 years from now?

But you are failing to grasp one major element....Blue Cheer was much LOUDER than the Stooges! What more can you say in retort to that?

Mercy, all you guys must have your pony tails tied too fucking tight - ;D - 'voice of reason' wasn't promoting the Stooges over Blue Cheer, nor was I, and he was spot on with everything he posted. The again why would this board listen to anything to do with 'reason' when we'd rather get into another 'pissing contest', which is what folks around here seem to live for. Peace, Motherfuckers!!

Babylon,
No malice intended but this is a discussion board. We discuss bands here, inthe context of the world of BC. Sometimes things get a bit heated but at least we have a passion for the topics we discuss. If taken with a sense of humor and a gram of smoke, some of these "pissing contests" can be quite fun or downright amusing (unless you are from the Randy Holden camp and demand such posts be deleted). Most of them, I'm sure, are not intended to be taken seriously. And if they were, it's all moot as BC is LOUDER than everyone else!
Looking forward to meeting you on Good Friday....

That's right, what it comes down to as that Blue Cheer is LOUDER than everyone else therefore they are superior! ;D I hope Duck breaks out about at least three stacks of Marshalls on this upcoming Spring tour - spread the sound out even more! Stay loud and be proud!

At least Blue Cheer keeps their focus on their music when playing on stage. Unlike the Stooges who seemed to run a freak show with their music. I don't see the excitement of Iggy Pop being an asshole and who sometimes wares just a thong on stage. *yuck!* or when he introduces him self as "I am fucking Iggy fucking Pop" Hopefully BC will come to the tundra later on this year.

What does hippy music sound like? The Stooges hated hippies? (Why did they go and play at hippy rock shows then?) BC regressed on their third album? ....Go join your Stooges you sure sound like one. Yes, compared to the first 2 albums, Blue Cheer regressed on the third album. Side 1 was the dreaded hippy sound, and side 2 was basically Randy Holden wankin' off, without a hint of the fury that Leigh Stephens brought to the band. Get over it already. Stooges would never let Blue Cheer open for them---Stupid, Stupid thing to do. EIO---Smart post !!!!! You win !! He wins...What? Eric, like some of the others, you totally missed my point. Go eat some fuckin' brown rice and shut the hell up.
