Show was fucking great as always. The band was a but jet lagged and had just one day to rehearse yet turned out another incredible performance! Totally tight, powerful, and of course LOUD. Now I gotta go do it again tonight. New album is slated to come out the end of June. It's really up to the frickin' record company at this point.
Didn't see you there Babylon (or did I? I talked to some cool music fans). Of course I was out of site a lot, especially during the second band!

The soundcheck for this show was also cool. Dickie, while checking the levels, did a few bass lines of Hunter of Love & China Cat Sunflower. Then they did a scorching Rock Me Baby.

The New York show was really kick ass I thought they were a bit tighter then they were the night before...they didn't do an encore last night due to the time constraints at that particular club everything started relatively early BC went on around 10pm....once again for those who go to see them this time around the songs are being played with a more trippier feel you'll know what I'm talking about when you see them,.....
everyone go out and see please these guys when they hit your town they need all the support that they can get,....there is no other that can match their energy level and you get to see a legendary band who truly care about their fans and fellow 1 % ers for a very reasonable admission price rock on everybody

*WARNING* THIS IS NOT AN ANTI-BLUE CHEER POST!!!!!!! .....I understand that part of the reason they did songs primarily from the first 2 albums on the last tour was to re-establish themselves.....but why are they still doing this this time around .........I'm all for seeing the band, but it is a bit frustrating to see them neglect the many other wonderful songs they have in their history just to play songs for the johnny-come-lately fans........you know, the ones who only think Blue Cheer only made the first 2 albums and just got into them last year.....trippier feel or not, am I the only one who is tired of the same songs from the first 2 albums and would like to see them do songs from any of their other albums...even ones from the 80's ...........the first 2 albums are great but.........

Well, Reason, You are honest and I agree with you. I consider Dickie's feel good space as the reason. Given age and singing range the older songs suit him. A safe bet in any case. I certainly have my favorites over the years and yes if I could drag this sorry body to one of the Gigs I would rather have my favorites played and be entertained by new material. In the perfect world the venues being played are good for the die hard fans but in the long run the danger of being "club-i- fied" are ever present. Very difficult to break out of that mold because agents talk among themselves and know the drawing capacity of a band and at what price!! My hope is that with the upcoming festival appearance in Europe Blue Cheer can get on the festival circuit and earn more money , play to larger crowds and feel more confident at didsplaying new material. They are deifinitly sustaining and building their legend status which is finally a reality--that part is good. Given the sorry state of the music business ,in general, Blue Cheer is lucky to be playing gigs they like to play and are doable. My real hope is for Dickie ,Paul, and Duck to figure out how to continue playing the music they love , live long and well and not necessarily go out in a blaze of glory-------------------- Legendary they are and the possibility of their new group of songs catching on in a big way is very possible .

.....I concur with you Eric, but somehow the words "safe bet" does not mesh with Blue Cheer....at all!!!!....I would hate to see Blue Cheer "playing it safe" on this tour, as that goes against what they stand for, no?........What happens is, if they continue playing strictly the oldies, they then become a fossilized band and no longer a real working band......as we all know, any musician has to continue pushing forward, otherwise you become a parody of yourself...I'm not saying that`s what`s happening here....yet......don`t get me wrong, I`m all for the oldies, but as a fan I also want to hear new material as well........or even obscure stuff........am I wrong for wanting one of the greatest bands to push forward, or are we content to merely let them become an "oldies" act? ........

If the band wants to play material from the first 2 albums for the time being, that's cool. I'd like to hear "newer" material but I understand their reasons. BUT....and old 1%ers and newer fans alike would like to hear to some of the other tunes off OutsideInside. There is some great classic material there and most of it can be played live. I know that sometimes time constraints make it hard to rehearse additional tunes and that they don't wanna play anything they are not tight on, but couldn't they rehearse it during soundchecks?

FBL....my point exactly!!!!!....No, I`m not trying to "diss" Blue Cheer...It`s just an observation by a very passionate fan.......I would like to think, at this point, they`re beyond trying to cater to the newer converts and start realizing that, after the johnny-come-latelys have left them behind, us 1%er`s will still be here for them, so why not play stuff that we`re familiar with...Like, as you said, the more obscure stuff from the second album.....heck, I`m not even sayin' do stuff from the fourth album, but how about material from "Highlights & Lowlives" ......I would hate to see Blue Cheer settle into becoming an oldies act, merely churning out the hits just so they can tour....I care enough where I would rather see them never tour again than to see this happen....BLUE CHEER ARE NOT AN OLDIES ACT!!!!!!!!......so c`mon guys, please don't go all "Vegas-Elvis" on us
