Who was the other band (not Sistas In The Pit) that opened for the Stooges in Boston?

In addition to my last post, I would also like to add that the last 4 shows I saw were the TOP 4 ones. AND I already knew beforehand what the set was going to be. Actually, these sets were better than any live BC show I heard on tape. The NY gig this past Sat. was really intense as every single song went way out into space and peaked in areas I never heard. I'm telling y'all, check them out if you can this tour. They really have become quite amazing. Support your band!

Hey FBL- I don't know if you saw my post in the North Star tread about last Friday's gig, but I agree with you in terms of cheer taking the old stuff and soaring to new heights with it. Eric is right about the festivals - that's a great way for these guys to get some traction and expose their stuff to a new audience. That's how the stooges come back, by doing all the festivals around Europe. Having said that I'd be lying if I didn't express some disappointment at not hearing any new additions to the set list the other night. FBL, Did you hear the guy next to me yelling out requests for 'gypsy ball' and 'sun cycle'? I find it interesting that Dickie doesn't do any of the stuff that's co-written with Leigh If you look on itunes with the obvious exception of 'Summertime Blues' the second most popular download is 'sun cycle' - I'd love to hear 'Duck' pump that mother through his effects box! As FBL said - get out and support these guys regardless of the set list - it don't get any heavier.

I wonder....Is Randy aware of this atrocity? Duck isn't a hair on a gnats ass compared to Randy, and this is utterly disgusting. This is truly a disgrace and Randy must be notified so that the proper authorities are put into affect so that they DO NOT PERFORM THIS SONG IN PUBLIC!!! There are laws against this stuff you know....Like copyrights. If they choose to perform this song in public, Randy Holden is then entitled to approximately 10.3 % of their take at the door, give or take a percent. This is fuckin' B L A S H P H E M Y !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Lips,
I believe that it has been reported elsewhere on this board that the boys have actually recored FRUIT for the new album.
I suspect that Dickie and Randy have already discussed this issue.
Would love to have been a fly on the wall for that talk!
Otherwise I am very happy with all these positive reports on how the band is sounding these days, though I may not be able to make the 4/17 show in DC....damn!
Best to all.

Yage,
Where did you read that BC recorded Fruit & Iceburgs for the new album? That's not true. Besides, I think it's getting kinda old for the band when people call out for it at the shows. The song doesn't really represent them. I'm sure Vanilla Fudge or Sir Lord Baltimore would play it if you asked them....

First of all, piglips you’re wrong and for all whom are not aware of this on this board anyone can perform someone else’s song live and they don’t have to pay a dime to the writer or ask permission to perform it - if that were the case every friggin’ cover band that performs in rock clubs would have to pay royalties for every song they perform well, the same applies for professional bands as well when performing another professional artists’ song,…… it’s when it is recorded and put record or Cd in which it being sold and or distributed that the publisher is or should be contacted for permission to do the rendition of that song and the publisher for that particular song gets a royalty if or when copies of that Cd which contain that rendition of the song are sold – even then in many cases the publisher is not contacted and still in cases like this are generally not pursued by the publisher unless there was big, big money involved in which the Cd was a miliion seller…it is not worth there time or effort to pursue something on a small scale where they’re not going to make any money on it- plus it would cost them more to just even pursue it it wouldn't be worth their time or effort,…… as far as BC are concerned, BC can perform live any Randy song they wish and they don’t have to ask one iota of permission to perform it......plus I highly doubt they will do one of his songs anyhow although I would personally love to see them do it myself and Duck would completely kick ass on it if he did,......Duck is the man!!!!

With Blue Cheer's catalog why in the fuck would they want to cover that shit anyway? Anyways, BC fans should look to the future and not dwell on the 2nd side of a 40 year old album. Enough with the Holden shit for Crissakes!
