I read on Leigh's website that he is working on a new cd with some friends.
I wonder if Dickie is included in there somewhere..

Leigh Stephens: let's see, he "whammy barred" his way through "Vincebus Eruptum", "wah-wahed" his way through "Outside/Inside", and along the way, created some of the most whacked-out, off-kilter, guitar overdubbing since Les Paul invented the concept. And you know what? I like his style! Very similar to Ron Asheton from the Stooges--who had 'soloing issues'. Just because a guitar player may not be 'technically-proficient", doesn't mean that he can't be just as creative, original, poetic, and artistic in their own way, and add something to a song. So comparing Leigh Stephens to Randy Holden, to me, is like comparing 'apples and oranges' (or, I guess for Randy's sake, maybe--"fruit and icebergs'?) Randy Holden said of Leigh: "I didn't like his playing much, but he was a sweet guy". Knowing how much Randy thought of his own playing more than Leigh's, and never having seen him play with BC, I wonder how Randy played Leigh's guitar parts--if maybe he felt it was 'beneath' his own abilities to play like Leigh, and that it might have contributed to the bitterness of his tenure with BC--that he might have felt he was 'regressing' somehow, and wanted to (as it seemed with "New Improved") transform BC into his own group, much like Jimmy Page transformed the Yardbirds into Led Zeppelin, and was angry when he was outvoted in doing so by Paul, Dickey, and management?
