Anyone seen or have reviews from The Satellite Ballroom or Local 506 BC shows?

I went to both shows. Simply awesome. Man, the Local 506 is a pretty small place. I am surprised the buidling is still standing after Blue Cheer got through with it! The 506 show had a pretty good turn out. The Satellite Ballroom on the other hand didn't. I can't believe Blue Cheer played a college town and hardly no one came out to see them. What a bunch of losers! Anyway, I had a blast and I am headed up to Cleveland next week to see them one more time. I need a week to get my bones to stop shaking!

Very cool, Sam - thanks for the reports and for getting out and supporting BC.

I went to see BC on their British tour in 2003. I had to travel 250 miles each way to get to the nearest venue. It was a University town. There were about 50-60 BC diehards in the place. The next night was supposed to be a sell-out for a Kylie Minogue trubute act. The kids these days don`t know where it all started and don`t want to find out either. I felt sorry for the guys. They were the biggest thing that ever happened in that place. There were more students upstairs listening to disco music and playing pool. I don`t think that there were any students down below where I was. Everybody watching BC were from out of town.

Yeah, it's a real drag about merger attendance at these shows - most kids are informed about 'classic rock' by radio and TV and you won't see or hear any BC there. They did fairly well in Philly and over the summer. On a much brighter note for us old Cheer heads, last week someone posted a video of the original BC with Leigh (not the one everyone has seen with Randy) doing 'Summertime Blues' on youtube. www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9LXVV2CnG8It's really a riot, at one point Leigh to wards the end the camera does a close-up on Leigh who is just laughing and not even making any attempt to look like he's really playing - not even a mike for Dickie - yet, all the amps are stacked behind them like a prop!! So fake, it's Priceless ;D

Awesome videos man, thanks for pointing them out. I check youtube once in awhile for the Cheer but I guess I missed these. The Hunter is also up, but the quality is pretty bad. O well, new Cheer from 69'

Too bad copies of this video rarely include the interview afterwards with Dick Clark. But hey, at least it's some footage with Leigh in it (probably the only). Where the heck is the Steve Allen show footage!

To bad these are not true "live" performances, but still it's nice to see footage from the late 60's On Scott's fan site of Leigh Stephens, he mentioned that there's a video clip of Feathers From Your Tree with Leigh on it out there, I think he may have it, or at least seen it some where. www.leighstephens.com/discography.htm

Anyone attend the Khyber show in Philly on Saturday? I wasn't able to go. How was it? What was the setlist?

Hey Jimmy - check out my review under the topic 'Satellite Ballroom' in past posts.
It was a great show and crowd - as you'll see from my review, the set was pretty much the same as last time. That was, perhaps, my only disappointment.
Wish they would roll out 'Sun Cycle', 'Come and get it', 'Feathers from your tree' or even some of the eighties stuff like 'Heart of the city', 'nightmare' or 'Down and dirty'.
Regardless they opened up a can whoop-ass at the Khyber and shook the place to it's foundation!

In the 2 show's Blue Cheer did this year (that I downloaded) it seem to me that Duck's guitar tone sounded a little like Leigh Stephens' guitar tone in a way.

I guess that I am just so happy they are together playing at places I can go see them the set list really doesn't make a huge difference to me. The sheer power of Babylon as their opening song is worth the price of admission alone to me. I liked your description of Paul in the Satellite Ballroom thread. I told my dad that they looked like a '59 Cadillac with a few dents in the fenders. As far as them being super nice guys I couldn't agree more. I just wished I wouldn't have been so hammered after the 506 show.

Jimmy wrote: "I told my dad that they looked like a '59 Cadillac with a few dents in the fenders". LOL! That's a great analogy - but, when they hit the stage it's more like a Sherman Tank with chrome mad flaps firing everything it's got in your face! I agree - any BC set list is better than 99% of what's out there. I hope this isn't the last round-up.
