They also used one in Peace Of Mind and Honey Butter Lover Blue Cheer could have been the first hard rock band to use a gong.

They also used one in Peace Of Mind and Honey Butter Lover. T'was Randy's idea no doubt. Hell, he is probably the one who PLAYED the gong. I guess his next album will be called "Gong God"!

I was actually talking about `m-AG-noliacabo-O-sebabyfi-NG-er` my friend, and in alphabetical order. Neither Honey Butter Lover nor Peace of Mind have the letter `G` in the titles, so they don`t qualify!

Does anyone know what Playground (Duck's other band) was like live, and how loud they were?

How loud is that?

Let's see, BC as a power trio plays on average at 169,000,005 Decibels. So dividing that by 1/3 that would be 56333335 Decibels. I don't think Randy Holden ever imagined in his wet dreams he'd play that loud.

here's a cool link for any of you who are Grand Funk fans...it's been mentioned before on this board that this band also had a lot of power - this link gives a good description of what they were like - enjoy www.angelfire.com/nt/omnivoid/gfr.html

Saw this thread on the internet so I copied this link,…..it’s only more confirmation on just how loud Blue Cheer was ,….this guy, “Thunder Thumb” whoever he is gives a pretty detailed description about how intense the sound was for them back in 1968… it's also mentioned that the two bands The Who and Deep Purple in which both of whom were listed in the guiness book of World Records for the loudest bands that neither were as loud as Blue Cheer was and according to him even Deep Purple themselves acknowledge that Blue Cheer were louder than they were Also references made to Dickie’s brother Jerry in this link www.vintagebass.com/thedudepit/archive/index.php?t-9116.htmlStay loud n' proud !
