Got in at 4 am last night...so I am gonna be brief and post more later. Fans at the show please feel free to post your reactions, comments, observations etc. here. The band played strong. Quality very similar to Champ's last year. The set was a little shorter, Dickie's voice a little stronger and Paul's drumming a little bit better. I thought at Champ's Duck's solos were on fire a little bit more. imho. The band felt they played real well and everyone left feeling great! NO surprises on the set list.......we here in Chicago were just lucky to have them play here 4 times in the past 12 mo. They are off to the Holland gig which they are looking forward to. When they come back they will set up a tour of the west coast. New album hopefully released in June, but there is some discussion on the cover artwork. Guys...go for the best! Blue Cheer in their early albums were noted for their great cover art. The fans hung around a long time to talk with the band, and I can't say it enough, but, that is greatly appreciated. Thank you Duck, Dickie and Paul for hanging around. The floors were shaking and that affected recording with my digital video. Anyone know a remedy? The bands sound was great. Duck is the band's guitarist and he does a great job. Please support him. I love the way he starts out with feed back and mellow notes that syncs into just awesome shredding. And by the way the band NEVER did Fruit & Icebergs in a sound check..... over and out......

Thank for clearing that up that they never did F&I durring a sound check, and please come to the tundra. He said they didn't do it at the one soundcheck in which he was present. He never said it wasn't done in previous soundchecks. Geezus, did you hit the bong a little early today? I hate drugs. Also, let's all remember that somewhere there exists a tape of a performance when the REAL Blue Cheer toured Holland, I.E. With Randy Holden at the helm (Notice I said performance? With Holden leading the band, they were not mere concerts but a mind-melting PERFORMANCE!!). A copy was given, but was lost in a house fire

Where there's a copy there must be an original, right?

Great post! Thanks for the concert report, Riff.
It's so great that this band is out there playing with such intensity and passion! ;D
Dickie, Paul and Duck really are the ultimate road warriors - regardless of past incarnations and originators this is Blue Cheer 2007 and it's fucking GREAT!!
Best of luck the rest of the way guys - fans in Pittsburgh and DC get ready for an electric explosion!

"And by the way the band NEVER did Fruit & Icebergs in a sound check....."
You know, you guys (Riffraff, Dr. Brownnose, and all the Randy Fanboys) are really quite gullible. It takes one fuckwit like Festooned Piglips to rag on Randy or make an outrageous claim and your panties immediately get in a bunch and you come whining on this board or go running to Randy to substantiate whatever bullshit rumour id being dished out. Did it ever occur to you that maybe the reason these bullshit posts never end is because you take the bait every single time?!!!Maybe it's your fault this board has gone off kilter and focuses more on an unknown musician(who by the way, will never make another record let alone one with Blue Cheer) instead of the band this board was meant for. Personally I wish this shit would stop already. Let's keep the focus on the Cheer....please!!!

Champion's last year --------------------------- CHAMPS, actually. The set was a little shorter ---------------------------------- they went on at 12:11pm and ended at 1:41am. it was the LONG jam of DOCTOR PLEASE, that made it seem it was short. everyone left feeling great! -------------------------------- Actually I ate some of the CRAPPY FOOD, next door and felt like SHIT for the first 20 mins., thnak goodness they had Airconditioning on otherwise I would have passed out! New album hopefully released in June, ----------------------------------------------- As Dickie said. My, can't believe how small he is! I am 5'7 and he was shorter! The floors were shaking and that affected recording with my digital video --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Actually it was either the "Industrial" dude from Champs last year doing his MOSH DANCE! that you probably felt! or newbie: "Geriatric guy" doing the most lamest senior citizen headbanging, I thought he was gonna keel over! HA! Some of the same freaks from CHAMPS were ther, "FATT BIKER DUDE" was there with his "FATT wife/girlfriend/whatever" Also new: EZYRIDER guy. Leave it to a Cheer show to bring the freaks out! Now were you the dude on the bench with the camera and mikeraphone or the dude on the other side who came over to the bench side at the end of the gig? I did ask DICKIE if the band ever thought about playing any material off BEAST IS BACK. and he couldn't remember it! "Which album is that?" "The MEGAFORCE Album, Dickie." "Well were going to HOLLAND and when we come back were gonna go into a room the three of us and were are gonan FIGHT over a setlist on what we want to play. So will see."

They featured `Ride With Me` and `Girl Next Door` in their setlists when they toured in Europe in the early 90s. Duck would not be unfamiliar with those songs. They need to introduce something different and soon. It`s hardly promotion for a new album, touring so close to it`s release and not letting anybody hear anything. I assume the release date of June is 2007 and not 2008! What are the chances of it being put back AGAIN!!?? Well said, A Voice of Reason, with regards taking the bait. However, as for Mr Holden not releasing another album, I wouldn`t count on it not happening.

Wow! I step away from the board for a bit, and look what happens! Anyway, if I may chime in here; I think the review that Riffraff posted was very informative and is logical, considering this is a Blue Cheer board and the fact that the band is out on tour. For that alone I am grateful. BUT, do we allow the fact that our favorite band is touring keep us from being objectional? I think it's great that the band is indeed touring, but is it too much to ask from one of my favorite bands to slip in either some new material, or material that wasn't covered on their last tour? We can rationalize all we want, but if they continue to play material solely from their first 2 albums, then they are in great danger of becoming an Oldies act. What the band is basically saying by doing this, is "All our great years are behind us". We all know, THAT'S NOT TRUE!!! So yes, it can be said "Hey man, just be glad they're even touring", but what if on the next tour, and the tour after that, the set list never changes? Or, one could say, "Well, they didn't have enough time to rehearse". Okay, then why are they touring at all? I cannot imagine doing my meanial job without being prepared and face challenges that come up every day. Should I expect different from a working, touring band? On the last tour, the excuse they gave for the old songs was to re-build their fan base. Good enough, but now what? Please, don't mis-interpret this. I love Blue Cheer as much as anybody, which is why I DON'T want them to turn into an Oldies act. I also love the band enough to be objectional and say to myself, "This band means more to me than re-hashing days gone by". I for one, refuse to allow myself to say "Well, at least they're touring, so I don't care if they play the same songs for the next 10 years!". No, this band means much more to me than that, and if I get flamed for saying this, then you need to look into your motives for doing so. I have never placed a band or musician on a pedestal to the point where I lose all objectional-ability. For example, I love Hendrix, but he made a helluva lot wrong decisions in his life, and I don't allow my admiration for his music to block me from seeing that. That goes for you Randy fanboys as well. Remember, he called himself Guitar God. That should tell you something
