Well it's nice to see Rainman Records promoting the album! If you go to there site, it still says "coming soon" and has no track listing nor instructions on how to order. At least we have a new Blue Cheer album out now which is nice. If Rainman wants to have a one record deal like Track did, I guess that's there business.

Maybe the Wells Fargo stage from Fargo to Chicago has broken down and it`s getting delivered by Donkey Express instead.

Got mine today! Gimme a few days to dig my heels into it, and I'll post a review (Yeah yeah...Big whoop, right?!). Anyway, I ordered mine at the Barnes & Noble, which is a block from my work, last week and it arrived today. Only gave it a quick listen, but I'll be listenig to it intently over the next few days.

Ok “What Doesn’t Kill You.....” will what??!? What’s the second Half of the Title? or rather Where is the Other Half of the title.....man I hope the silly bar code at the bottom of the back didn’t cover it up?!? This Rainman has got to get it together...I mean now here I am holding the New Blue Cheer cd in my hand and I am asking questions in my mind and have yet to give it a listen....So I put it in the player and turn it up loud, headphones work good too if you got picky neighbors. So much for the intro now to the music... The album starts out in rave up fashion with Rollin’ Dem Bones which calls to mind Zztop but with a much heavier bass supplied by Sir Dickie. Duck does some nice slide guitar, but the instrumental break hesitates, doesn’t grab me like a Ritchie Blackmore solo would. This leads into Piece of the Pie, where Dickie is really belting this one out. Again something about the solo is out of place. Born Under a Bad Sign follows with a good part of the vocals done by Duck and a Cream like double guitar solo. The boys are having fun with this one as Duck and Dickie harmonize on the chorus. Man I really like Duck’s singing. I hope he does more in the future. Gypsy Rider follows with a bunch of feed back supplied by Duck . And that takes us to Young Lions in Paradise. This almost has a country feel to it and had it been on Oh Pleasant Hope, would have really complimented and strengthened that record. Here it works fine, because Duck’s soloing has great feeling to it with some of the intro work calling to mind Liitle Wing. I Don’t Know About You follows and I think this has a Sabbath feel to it. I don’t remember much about this song except it preceeds track no. 7. So at Track 7 the whole vibe of the record changes. Prior to this track you could say the music has been rave-up or even party music, but hear at track 7 the old Blue Cheer vibe comes back. I’m Gonna Get You really got to me. The bass is heavy, the guitar so smooth, mellow and sad, the drums with their steady beat and Dickie’s voice mixed perfectly. Everything beomes one at this point in the record. The instrumental break is perfect. All the old timers will love this one. The overdriven flanger acting as sustained feedback is mixed beautifully. And this vibe continues with Maladjusted Child, Just a Little Bit and No Relief. Everything works perfectly in heavy harmony. In No Relief, Duck’s guitar is so understated and yet it continues weaving in and around Dickie’s bass and vocals, intensifying every next go around. I wondered why they didn’t cloe the album with Just a Little Bit instead. However, the fade out is so perfect that the band made the right choice. If you really like this song I would recommend you also check out Child of the Darkness, Dickie’s solo. His singing is very similar on that disk. So after two listens I wonder what about the songs that were left off. Did they take some risks on those songs. Did they fit in with the first part of the cd or the second part? Again more questions....
A couple of typos are on the album sleeve. And it would have been cool to have the lyrics included....Rainman are you listening......and maybe a proper release?
So heavy and welcomed into my record collection 3.5 out of 4 stars.

My god man, are you ever happy? ? The unfinished title is designed to make you think of the other half of that old saying. Did that ever occur to you? Or did you spend too much time thinking about what you DIDN'T like about the album? Typos, no lyrics, proper release, etc.....finally, after a 15 year wait for a new studio album from BC, and these are your complaints?!?! And the songs left off?......that's not necessarily a bad thing. 10 songs is all you really need for a good album. Too many groups today pack a CD to the hilt, thereby making listening to the entire album in one sitting a bit overwhelming. Besides, who's to say that won't release the songs later on? But my god, they release 10 new songs, and you have the nerve to whine "where are the other songs they recorded"!! Did you enjoy what they DID release? You say 3.5 out of 4 stars, but your review indicates differently. Would you have been this hard and critical if your wonder-boy Randy Holden released a new album? I mean, there ya go; he hasn't released a new album in over 6 years, and the last one he DID release only had 4 F*CKIN' SONGS ON IT!!! Did you complain about that? Or the fact that he charged more than the usual for his cd, simply because he's Randy Holden? Did you whine to him about that, or were you too much in awe that he actually released a new album at all? Sorry for the rant, but give the boys a break man. The wait has been too long to complain about the little details. Here they have given us almost an hour's worth of of new music, something many of us had given up ever thinking it would happen again. That doesn't mean they are exempt from criticism, but these early days of the new album are critical. Now if you'll excuse me, I simply must go get another cup o' Joe and head for "the throne"

Does anyone at Rainman Records know how to update their website. It still says coming soon. Bad P.R move on their part.

Don't worry about it Gypsy Ball. That kind of bullshit is just typical business as usual. Anyone who wants the real scoop on what's going on knows to come to this board. Besides, the boys have been doing this long before we even had the internets.
