Just discovered a previously uncirculated live recording from the Denver Dog in '68 that is available for downloading in .wma format from:
http:/tela.sugarmegs.org/sugaree/ (for the audio) http:/tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/asxcards/ (for recording info)
Unfortunately it's only about 17-18 minutes long and has a weird mix (bass & drums upfront, guitar in the back, vocals way in the back). It's starts with a jam that sounds like the ending of "Second Time Around" and then flows right into "Doctor Please", which cuts off just as the feedback rave-up at the end starts to take off. Despite it's flaws, this is essential for any fan of Blue Cheer with Leigh. IMO, this performance is wilder than any of the others that have been circulating.
This site also has Blue Cheer live 5/30/84 (partial show but better quality than what's been available) and 10/10/87 (haven't listened to it yet) along with the ChetFest reunion from last October. Enjoy!

I just listened to it on my computer and it's the sickest 20 minutes you'll hear of these guys...you're right an absolute must for the hard core Blue Cheer fan I have re-newed faith that someone will come forth with the infamous video footage from the Steve Allen show if there's audio floating around someone somewhere must have a copy of the video footage....I'd also like and hope that live audio from the '69 Outside Inside tour turns up somewhere too

OK. I downloaded and played this stuff last night. All I can say is, if you muthas got any self-respect, you should grab these shows while you have the chance. The Denver show, while really short, is one of the most intense BC bootlegs I ever heard! It's really out there and Leigh totally jams! It's like hearing new material right off the Vincebus album. Lots of great improve.
The 1997 gig is really good too. It's more of a rock & roll set than a blow your brains out set and was very enjoyable. This is one of the 3 shows they did with Billy Carmisi and one of the few where they played Midnight Hour. Plus, there was a surprise in there that really made the price of admission worth it.
GET THESE!!!

After giving this show another whirl today, all I can add is that I hope Dickie does a bass solo on this this coming tour. Amazing!

Thank you for bringing that '68 recording to our attention.. It's SAVAGE! vERY GOOD RECORDING , TOO , all told. Beats hell out of most of the existing recordings (Tho' I'm glad ANYTHING exists.). The '84 and '87 stuff is nothing to sneeze at , either , tho' I did'nt see a listing for the Chet Helms Memorial recordings , I must have looked in the wrong place.... Be cool , John.

Actually, that would be the crown jewel if a recording with Randy surfaced. Next runner up would be a show with Gary Yoder/Ralph Kellogg (RIP) or even the one & only gig that Bruce Stephens did (heard he kicked ass). These eras are the only ones that don't seem to be documented live but I am sure there are tapes out there. Whoever has them...stop hoarding 'em!
