B.B. Blunder
When I was a kid, I had once heard a song on the radio called Sticky Living by B.B. Blunder. Confusing it later with Easy Living by Uriah Heep, I called it a day as for finding this record. Lo and behold this record has now been released on cd and is called Worker's Playtime. B.B. Blunder is an off shoot of the Blossom Toes. The band is comprised of Kevin Westlake (R.I.P.), Brian Godding and Brian Belshaw. It is a remarkable record and holds up to this day.
In the liner notes it mention's that Kevin got to know the sister of one of Blue Cheer's managers and was invited to the States to help them write songs. He later played on Leigh Stephen's Red Weather album.
Kevin played drums, guitar and wrote. He also has a solo album recorded.
I'd be curious if Eric Albronda can fill us in more on Kevin. What he played on Red Weather etc....since not much is written about Red Weather.
This album "Worker's Playtime", sounds like something that Leigh was trying to achieve in a "Cast of Thousands." But that is only imho. One track features a dual slide guitar lead, some of the singing reminds me of Bowie, another riff very Page like. Another track features a bass line, Dickie would have been proud of.
Another pleasant blast of the sixties in this day and age ! defying things lost and forgotten!

has anyone heard of a group from the sixties (around '66 to be exact) called, "The Twilights" ? - they had a very raw sound and you could hear the beginning sounds of what was to come in bands like BC shortly afterwards

That was really enjoyable, Maltese! I can't believe Jimi would kick this guy offstage. Maybe his chemistry was just right at the time & he needed to play right then & there. You did overlook one thing though...in addition to Carl Palmer, this video also contains the late, great Vincent Crane. He & Carl left the Crazy World to form another band...the name escapes me...was it Dextrim's Midnight Runners?

I always liked Arthur Brown! I remember hearing that when he was on the Ed Sullivan show doing his hit FIRE that he set his hat on fire. he also had a small part in the WHO movie TOMMY. He was the one waving the cross around.

I remember seeing The crazy world... in Hartford, CT in the sixties - the fire Marshall had a fit because of the crown of fire that Mr. Brown came on the stage wearing. Crane just played his ass off - it was like ELP on crank with a couple of hits of acid for good measure. He did the best version of 'I put a spell on you' - hands down!

Yes Gypsy Ball, I've heard of them. White Lace and Strange is a great song, that guitar solo gives me the chills. Reminds me of Cream's Sunshine of your Love. Anyone hear of Eden's Children? Here's some info on them.....
Boston's answer to Blue Cheer, this album is a guilty pleasure. Most of the songs are little more than excuses to turn up the dials and just riff ("Knocked Out", "If She's Right", "Don't Tell Me"), and sometimes, they're beyond apology ("Stone Fox"), but the spirit of the trio is infectious. If the album had a little more variation (as on the raga-inspired "Just Let Go", or the lone ballad "Goodbye, Girl"), it might have made more of an impact. Despite what some sources will tell you, this isn't garbage, even if most of it is just amplified fluff.

fuck I am soooooo fucking pissed!!!! I was trying so hard to find Kevin around that time! Thanks for the info Mike.
I have that Eden's Children LP. I think I listened to it once and don't remember it being that great. Cool cover though..
And for the lost venues category- Anyone remember the Action House in LI? BC played there a few days after the first Fillmore East gig I believe. I have an ad somewhere...

I found this 1969 bio of Eden's Children. Eden's Children is a Boston-based triowhich inevitably, and unfortunately for them, invites a compaairison with 1968's most famous rock trios, The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream. ~Lillian Roxon 1969

Unfortuantely Thunder and Roses, though not too shabby of a band, can be given the exact same review. They sound musically at times like the mellow side of Hendrix with a singer that really wants to be Jack Bruce. Around the time this Phildelphia band made this album, another power trio 40 miles away in Trenton, NJ was totally ripping heads. Anyone hear of Sainte Anthony's Fyre? All in the vain of this music we love but with a more original sound...

Love Over You by Sainte Anthony's Fyre is another good song.
Thunder And Roses Moon Child is another favorite of mine. The vocals may not be great, but the guitar solo is awesome!
