Actually, I was referring also to the great bluesmen that preceeded rock.....But Zeppelin were gentlmen about it and they settled the law suit . This goes back a few years, and I can't remember the name of the Bluesman...

Buzz, You ROOL!
I was turned on to The Sensational Alex Harvey Band by our good friend, Feathered Fish. He sent me a package of cds containing one of their albums which arrived at my house during a really low point. I popped it on and there was happiness everywhere. They been a staple in my house ever since.
You got a cool prize coming for having good taste!

Yes, Alex was pretty great...saw them as openers for the Tubes in Chicago Halloween, 1976. They did this whole build the wall and bust it down routine. Methinks Pink Floyd has done a little borrowing in their time, too. The Tubes were at their 'White Punks on Dope' peak and put on the best show in all of rock & roll history...you had to see it to believe it: real power and take it to max showmanship that was a joy to behold.
If you like Alex, you need to get his brother's band's CDs, too...Stone the Crows. Sadly Les Harvey is dead, too...before Alex even. Horrifyingly enough, he was electrocuted doing a sound check for a show. Absolutely the raving fastest for a purpose not just to show off leads I've ever heard. Vocalist...Maggie Bell...was and may still be the closest we'll ever get to another Janis Joplin.
Stay cool fools. ;D

My Parents used to go see the tubes all the time and said that they did have an elaborate stage show. I saw a clip of it once..kinda reminded me of the Rocky Horror Show. I did see Prarie Prince play with Blue Cheer at Chet Fest and was not impressed in the least. It was kinda like having Ringo there just to keep time and didn't work well in Blue Cheer.
I did see Maggie Bell & Midnight Flyer open for AC/DC back in 1981. Didn't know who she was then but she did belt out those vocals. AC/DC was a little louder than her though....

I saw The Tubes several times and yes, it was all about the show and little about the music, at least in the 70s. You would go knowing that you would see a show. One time they even had a naked trapeze artist who hung by her teeth, not that any of us young guys were looking at her teeth.

Nice job Gypsyball - what you should have done though was take each of the individual pics on the back of the cover and have each of those pics displayed as part of the slideshow - but anyways, it's still very cool at least another classic hard rock band from that era gets some exposure on you tube BTW I had just met (very briefly) Johnny Winter inside his tour bus thanks to his new road manager - it was at a place called "The Medley" in Montreal - it's amazing the turnaround that Johnny has made since he's hooked up with this new manager he has gotten Johnny off the junk and his playing all came back - it's actually a miracle because when I saw Johnny five years ago I didn't think he would have lived another year - he did "Hoochie Koochie Man" - was very cool

I got the back cover "art" from Anthology's website. I wish they made the picture much bigger, oh well. If I knew what it was years ago, I wouldn't have passed it by, when I saw the Sainte Anthony's Fyre album at Vinyl Connection in Fargo. Dang!

The Rugbys came out of Louisville, KY. The song featured in this video is called You, I. This intro to this clip is similar to the MC5 Ramblin' Rose one, so the song doesn't start right away. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeN7Uug58QkSo does anyone here remember this group?
