I was in particularly referring to Nebula's drummer who apparently just left the band from what I was told from a source....

Continued from the "Tattoo" thread (We really should continue this conversation here)...I like the POP2 album a lot. It was a nice continuation from the stuff Randy wrote on New! ImProved!. Just wish it was a bit longer. As for the remake version, I asked Randy if the concept behind it was to recreate the effect of his live show then with the 20 Sunn stacks cranked real loud, distorted sound and all with all the pain. He agreed that it was. It certainly does crank and the first time I put it on, my cat jumped right to the ceiling with the first chord. It sounds better cranked loud as the mix is totally red lined and sounds like crap when turned low (as it states in different words on the cd). It's interesting and experimental, but I personally like the original version of POP2 better. There were different pressings of it released (all bootleg) and Randy said none of them have the mix he intended. There was one pressing that had a much more superior sound then the rest and the label name escapes me. PoopyPants, what was it?

The label was called Hobbitt and I too much prefer the original version as well. Yes, let's continue that conversation here.

The info on Population II that poopypants was talking about is still on Randy's website. Click on the site map link, on the new releases tab click on Population II link and you can read the info that he was talking about. Hopefully piggy boy doen't tell his "master" about this.

Poopypants,
I don't think it was Hobbit. Hobbit put out the crappy piece of shit (that's a bit redundant) that chopped off parts of songs and was mixed really bad. The label I'm thinking of was Star something. Not only did it sound good, but it had as bonus tracks the 3 tunes Randy did in BC mastered a lot clearer & louder than what Repitoire or Akarma put out. You can even hear the "Good God" at the end....

Randy let Scorpio Records of New Jersey do a limited edition of Pop 2 on vinyl a year or two back on the agreement that he got to sign every copy, which he did. I have a mate who is a vinyl junkie and has copies of Pop2 on vinyl on different labels, as well as an original mint copy of Randy with the Other Half, and I wrote Randy and asked him if he would send my mate a copy of the re-release, and when it came it was a mint copy of the album on Hobbit. My mate says that is better then anything else he has so far picked up. I got an e-mail from him (not Randy) this morning saying that he had just picked up a mint copy of Vincebus on vinyl on Phillips. It didn`t cost very much either.

Flashback was the one! Thanks Riffraff! If any of you can find a copy of this, grab it!!! It's out of print and unauthorized but sounds really good! I never heard the Scorpio vinyl as when it came out, I was sick of getting multiple copies of the same record, but I heard from Dr. Brown that it sounded like shit. Whatever....

I saw one vinyl version of Pop 2. The owner would not sell it. But he gave me a listen. The sound quality was very similar to "Flash back" but the cover was not the original (imho). It was not an open up. Just the standard cardboard sleeve. The amps with Randy and Chris were on the front. The amps without Randy and Chris was on the back.

Big event today. I met the GuitarGod himself down at the Jacob Javitz Center. He's actually kind of nice though not as loud as Blue Cheer when you meet him in person. His wife is kinda nice too. ;D

That would have been a thrill for Jacob Javitz as well..........!! Which wig was his wife wearing? Her red one or her blue one?

So it was a chance meeting? Or you do the gallery scene in California and meeting him would be an eventuality?
Yeah, yeah , yeah, art is his business (pays his bills) and music his love (hobby). Understood.
How is Randy doing? I heard he did lose a lot of the weight he had when that video (on YouTube) was made.
Did you see any of his paintings?

Ya know, you people piss me off! I meet what is, for me, the equalivalent of the Pope meeting Jesus Christ, and all you want to know is if I asked him about when is his newest album coming out?!?! Sorry, I ain't no fuckin' journalist, okay! This was MONUMENTAL meeting for me, and the last thing on my mind was new music. Shit, I was barely able to speak, so agog was I in his might presence. I mean, if you met Jesus one day, would you ask him when the next Testament of the Bible is coming out? NO! Of course you wouldn't. So why would I ask The Guitar God himself about new music? Gimme a fuckin' break here man. You guys are killin' me Bsides, if you fuckers must know, we talked about his art. This music shit is just a scam so he can earn some chump change to buy paints for his canvas! So that's why he hasn't come out with anything new musically. Too busy with his art work.
